ABOUT LONGLEASH > BREEDING PHILOSOPHY

At Longleash, we believe that the parent dogs deserve as much love and respect as their puppies will receive in their new homes. Our girls are a part of our family and experience every aspect of our family life. From camping, to swimming in the river, to cuddling on the sofa - our girls enjoy the same things that their puppies will one day experience in their new homes.

Unlike larger breeding organizations, our girls are never 'rotated' or left in kennels to whelp and raise their pups. Our girls are spoiled during their pregnancy and pampered while they raise their puppies. The pups are born in our puppy room where they are kept in a quiet, safe and warm environment for the first few weeks. At 3-4 weeks of age, the pups are then moved into our family room where they are exposed to all the sights and sounds a home has to offer.

I recently spoke with a breeder in my area who was selling a 7 year old poodle for $300. This dog has had 5 litters, lived in a kennel its whole life, was not house trained and was "shy" towards people. It breaks my heart to know that this poor dog has not had the opportunity to know "love" until she is 7 years old.

To know that all of our dogs come from loving nurturing families is what sets Longleash apart. We have developed a goldendoodle breeding program with the happiness of our dogs in mind. Please read about the program that we pioneered.

If factors such as timing and distance make it difficult to adopt from Longleash, I urge you to consider the health and happiness of the parent dogs wherever you adopt from. It is unimaginable to sentencet a dog to live all alone in kennel. It is a solitary life that no animal should be subjected to.
